HELMSDALE COMMUNITY CENTRE

The Community Centre hosts the Library, Information Point and Registrar, and three times a week, the Helmsdale Hub and lunch Club. It also has the offices of the Local Development Officer and Dementia Friendly Communities.
The Centre plays host to innumerable community activities. Many local community meetings are held here as well as events such as the Flower and Produce Show, fund raising activities, Christmas Party and Christmas Light Switch on and numerous sport activities.
HElmsdale community council
Meets monthly. Minutes can be obtained in Helmsdale Library.
Directors meet monthly. Local Development Officer, Mary Stewart, is based in the Community Centre.
The group established and run by residents of West Helmsdale, Gartymore, Marrel and Portgower and charged with steering the community through the historic land buy-out.
Timespan is Helmsdale's famous Heritage and Arts Centre. It claims to be "a meeting place between our past and our future" which is amply fulfilled in this busy place with it's year-round calendar of exhibitions and events.
Founded in 2012, the club goes from strength to strength. 2017 sees Helmsdale host its second regatta.

Helmsdale is the proud owner of two community minibuses. HCT provides a regular bus service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between Helmsdale and Golspie; there is no need to book just be at the relevant stop and the bus will stop. Situated beside Couper Park, the Social Club is the venue for many of Helmsdale's social get togethers.
Meet Monday mornings from 10.00, the group are involved in restoring an area of overstood willow coppice at the Marrel, have planted a new woodland at the Marrel. when not doing that they have ongoing green woodworking projects. New members welcome. Please contact us through our Facebook page.
The Kitchen Garden is still in its infancy, it is a community garden where members of the local community can rent garden space to grown their own fruit, vegetables or flowers. There will also be fruit and vegetables grown that will be available for the local community to purchase. If you would like to help in getting the garden into shape then the volunteers meet on Thursday mornings at 10 am, contact us through our Facebook page if you would like more information.
